Surfing, Rogan and Redemption
Reading can challenges us and strengthen our empathy skills. I recently read two very different memoirs - one, It’s Only Drowning, where the author, David Litt, struggles to build empathy with his surfing and Joe Rogan-loving brother-in-law. The second, My Mistakes, Your Lessons, by Ricardo London, is a story of redemption and reform during his life-long journey through the criminal justice system. Convicted of participating in two homicides, London’s memoir pushed me to examine many of my own beliefs.
